Many thanks to aloud us to share your culture and history. we really enjoyed everything, the accommodations are awesome as well the capital city.”

  • Jill & Jeff on Custom tour (Ashgabat, Darvaza, Koytendag, Turkmenbashi and more)

“From the moment we met Ahmet in the Ashgabat airport he looked after us like we were members of his family. Ahmet is a teacher as well as a tour guide and he speaks Turkmen, Russian, Turkish and English fluently as well as a smattering of other languages. He is knowledgable about both the ancient and modern history of Turkmenistan and is very proud of what his country has achieved. He is a born teacher with funny stories and jokes thrown in amongst the serious and interesting information. He also took it upon himself to teach us some Turkmen words. We learned to say Hello, Thank you/goodbye and “My name is…” in Turkmen so that we could introduce ourselves to locals. He also taught us to count to ten in Turkmen. This interaction with the locals was great fun and we really appreciated Ahmet facilitating it. Ahmet arranged for us to try a wide range of local foods from cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and bazaars. We stayed in excellent hotels and our drivers were all very competent in situations with different challenges. We have many wonderful memories of our time in Turkmenistan and thank Ahmet and all the drivers for giving us this very personalised experience in a country that we previously knew very little about. Sag bol Ahmet. You are number Bir.”

  • Christian & family on Custom tour (Koneurgench, Darvaza gas crater and Ashgabat)

“Thank you for the amazing tour and all the interesting conversations with Ahmet. All five of us really enjoyed it. The children especially liked the gas crater, circus and fancy buildings in Ashgabat :-)”

  • Tor on Ashgabat Package

“Had a wonderful time in Turkmenistan. Two days in Ashgabat with the guide Ahmet. Murat drove me to Darvaza gas crater, there I met another guide, Artie. The guides are really friendly, has a lot of knowledge on Turkmenistan. The guides are also really flexible, in the sense that if there is something you want to see or do on the go, the guides will happily let you see or do this thing. The whole trip went really smooth, and the guides and the team will do everything they can, in order for you to have a good experience. Big greetings from Norway!”

Frequently asked questions

Short answers for planning a trip to Turkmenistan.

Do I need a tour to visit Turkmenistan?

Yes. All foreign tourists need to enter Turkmenistan through an organized tour with a local operator. Your tour route, travel dates, entry point, and exit point are used for visa support and border arrangements.

Can I get a Turkmenistan visa on arrival?

Yes, many travelers can receive the visa on arrival, but only after the Letter of Invitation has been approved before the trip. The LOI is the approval document you show at the airport or land border.

How do I book a Turkmenistan tour?

Choose a tour, select your dates, pay the online booking fee, and finish the remaining trip details from your booking page. After booking, we help you prepare the Letter of Invitation application.

Can solo travelers join group tours?

Yes. Solo travelers can join public group departures or book a regular tour and let us try to match them with other travelers on the same route. Joining others can lower the final price per person.

What is the cheapest way to visit Turkmenistan?

The cheapest option is usually joining a group departure or booking early so other travelers can join your route. If you only want Ashgabat, the Minimal Package is the lowest-cost way to keep the trip short and simple.

Can you arrange private tours?

Yes. Any ready-made tour can be booked as a private trip, and we can also create a custom itinerary around your dates, route, entry point, exit point, and budget.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking around 3 months before arrival to reduce the chance of issues and give us more time to find other travelers who can join your route and lower the price. If that is not possible, book at least 3 to 4 weeks before arrival because the Letter of Invitation takes time to prepare and review.
